we are extremely happy to welcome yet another talented crew from italy in the moonshine family. d-operation drop is a project born in 2010 thanks to the encounter of 5 university students wich found themselves sharing the same house and more importantly, love for music (in 2013 zeemo joins the crew, modifying the formation from 5 to 6 elements). after a couple of early collaborations, almost casual, uniradio cesena gives to d-operation drop the chance to lay the foundations of an underground music program on air twice a week. thanks to this experience the group officially finds its frame and looks forward to its new goals such as producing, djving and vjing. to date d-operation drop, after almost seven years of experience, has received support from artists like j:kenzo, distance, n-type, icicle, radikal guru & many others. releasing music with notable labels such as lion charge, artikal music uk, subaltern and now moonshine recordings.

almost 10 years have passed since onra arrived with the charmingly eccentric chinoiseries lp. 32 hip-hop beats formed the sample-based project - dusty chinese vinyl hissing and crackling throughout resulting in an intriguing and spontaneous mix of the producers interest in exploring a newly-discovered style of music with his love for classic hip-hop production.
using the style of analogue mpc production combined with the somewhat restrictive record sampling of strictly chinese music records, he has been able to be creative over three volumes, an amount of 100 instrumentals, despite the challenge of finding more obviously standout samples in chinese music.
the chinoiseries projects are the type of albums that invites the listener to play it from beginning to end, in order to really enjoy the trip and appreciate the variety of rhythms and textures spread over those 32 short instrumentals. in that way, pt.3 is no different to its predecessors, but the originality of the samples, the curious harmonies and the odd-drum patterns still makes the album sounds as fresh as the first one.
onra finishes this epic trilogy with class as a result of extended record digging across the far east and the producer s own development over the preceding 10 years.
as a producer who has released records inspired by 80s funk, 90s hip-hop and rnb, electronic and even a spiritual jazz project, pt. 3 brings this stylised set to a close.

das 1972 erschienene selbstbetitelte debütalbum der deutschen gruppe oratorium ist eines jener seltenen alben, die in einer gewissen mystik gehüllt sind. dies ist ein album das dich in eine heilige und übernatürliche welt einlädt, zu einem kompromisslosen religiös-progressiven rock. unter der leitung von komponist bernhard hornig wurde die band 1967 unter dem namen christliche einheit mit dem schwerpunkt auf religiöser musik gegründet. die ursprüngliche besetzung der band bestand aus drei brüdern und zwei klassenkameraden, alle noch jugendliche zu der zeit. die hornig-brüder waren die kreativen köpfe in der band. bernhard fungierte als komponist, georg kümmerte sich um das schreiben der texte und ihr jüngsten bruder rainer, der als mitglied eines berühmten deutschen jugendchores gesangsausbildung gehabt hatte, übernahm die hauptstimme.

segun bucknor fell in love with american soul music as a student at new yorks columbia university. otis redding, wilson pickett, sam cooke and ray charles hadnt made much of a splash in africa at the time and when bucknor returned to nigeria in 1968, he was determined to bring the sound to a wider audience.
the result was brand of afro-soul that in turn became a proto-type of afrobeat. with his bands, the assembly and the revolution, he released a few politically charged tracks, but even with his energetic dance trio, the sweet things, turning up the heat, bucknor couldnt compete with fela kuti.

there arent many artists that can lay claim to having put out records on labels as divergent as rough trade and john talabots hivern discs. perhaps this is because few artists express such genuine diversity in their musical tastes and creative explorations as david kitt. since the turn of the decade as new jackson he has mined a seam of driving, ghostly house to run parallel with his solo strand of ambient folk electronica. his debut release in 2011 the night mail on pogo channeled early record collection heroes aphex twin and orbital through to drexciya and projekt pm but had one foot firmly in the 21st century beaming in like some futuristic cyberballad. on the flip side hussle free had that mix of house and boogie sensibilities with dark and dusty synths and vocoder that would become a signature. this was followed by acclaimed releases on hivern, permanent vacation, major problems, apartment and most recently cin cin. his debut album set for release on all city in may was recorded in kitts bedroom studio overlooking dublin bay, its nocturnal hues very much a product of the nightshift often working on headphones with the rest of his housemates fast asleep. it takes full advantage of the scope of the lp format, ebbing and flowing between deep house club ready gems and more restrained and meditative beatless moments for the morning after. the recording process yielded many eureka moments with kitt finally nailing sounds that had hitherto proved elusive. a key moment was getting a bank loan to buy an sp 1200 sampler
